Chapter 295
Side Story 28
The northern lands, where cold air swirled as always.
Dale crossed the central courtyard of Saxony Imperial Palace, which, as it had been since ancient times, had been reborn as the heart of a new empire within history.
The night sky was dark, and ash-gray snowflakes drifted down. With each step, the pure white base beneath, piled high, caved in with the shape of his footprints.
“Dale.”
At that very moment, a voice called out. Dale lifted his head at the sound.
“…Lady Sepia.”
Once, Dale and Rize’s teacher, an elf mage, had been there.
“You look troubled.”
“When you find yourself alone in the world, and then face the people you love again…”
Sepia said. At those words, Dale smiled bitterly.
“I finally believed my journey had come to an end.”
And revealing a weakness he never showed before anyone, he said.
The world rests in my hands, and my loved ones are by my side. What more could I possibly wish for? What else must I grasp to fill this emptiness in my heart? How many more years must pass before my wandering ends?
Before long, Dale’s voice was faintly sobbing.
“Teach me, Teacher Sepia.”
It was not the demon or god of meaninglessness that people feared.
There was only a human being filled with weakness.
As always, the ‘Black Prince’ stood before the elf mage Sepia, seeking her teachings.
“Regrettably, I too am but a wanderer lost and adrift in this world.”
Yet even the wisest teacher in the world could not provide an answer to Dale’s question.
